Arriving in Sorong, the Army Commander and Army Chief of Staff welcomed Dance Tribe Moi
Arrived at Domine Eduard Osok, Sorong, West Papua, the TNI chief Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo and Chief of Army Staff (Chief of Staff) General Mulyono greeted with Dance pickup. The dance performed by five native sons and daughters of the tribe Moi Sorong.
"That is Tari pickup, usually used to pick up a large person, such as the President and other high officials," said a representative of Dance Namibili named Joe (35) told AFP after performing in Sorong Airport, Friday (29/04/2016).
The Dance by Joe have meaning for people newly arrived and accompanied the dance got blessings from the ancestors. Because in the dance there is a procession climbed into a large plate. Large plates were trampled or ridden by figures indicating that greeted guests are received in the region.
"New people come here must tread plates to fit the custom here. So that ancestor has blessed the newly arrived here," said Joe.
According to Joe, members who participated this time was only five dancers. But at other times could be even more members of the Dance pickup. In addition there is also a part of the carrier dancer music that accompanies the dance and of course the traditional music.
When greeting, the Army Commander and Chief of Staff received a headdress decorated with feathers. After stepping on the plate before, two female dancers then took the two generals and invited half running into the room airport.
