Queensland passed a law which Prohibiting Uber


Australia Queensland State Parliament loloskan laws that prohibit the operation of public transport sharing models like Uber. Uber driver is caught will be fined up to 2,356 dollars (about USD 23 million) for each violation.


The law also adds authority inspectors in the field to detect violations.

As for the offense of illegal taxi, the driver can be fined up to 23 560 dollars, or approximately USD 230 million.


This law was proposed by members of parliament from the political party called Katter's Australian Party (KAP) named Rob Katter. But has undergone a number of revisions before being supported by the opposition.


According to Rob Katter, Uber has destroyed the taxi industry in Queensland.


"Hence, their business could be worth 60 billion dollars around the world. Many people are easily influenced by them. But hopefully not in Queensland," he told ABC.


According Katter, the passing of this Act to be a message for Uber and other multinational companies that Queensland will not be subject to the business plan of those companies.


"It is we who make the decisions here. Should anyone dare to say that, sorry just maybe you get a cheap ride today, but for the long term are not in line with our national interests," he said.


The proposed bill Katter Party members have even included a points deduction SIM Uber driver if caught, but authorities have successfully negotiated with the increasing value of the fine.


"The Queensland Government welcomes innovation in transportation, but passenger safety is the first priority for us," said Queensland state Transport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe.


However, this law does not prevent the possibility of escape of another rule that will melagalkan share of public transport services.


Some taxi drivers were present when the Queensland Parliament to vote on the bill.


Responding to change this law, spokesman Brad Kitschke Uber said his business will run as usual."I think the driver will be on board with us and the passengers would be bothered rights over this decision," he said.


Bill Parker from one of the local taxi company welcomes this Act. "This is about drivers who use private cars without proper insurance," he said.


Previous business transports various Uber has been legalized in the state of New South Wales and Canberra. While Western Australia and South Australia will legalize starting next August.
