Jokowi: product farmers from the village does not lose competitiveness with other countries


President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) recounted his experience during a visit to Lulu Hypermarket in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates during a working visit there some time ago.


Among a number of products middle east, Jokowi claimed to find a number of products of farmers in Indonesia also exported and sold in the Hypermarket.

"It turned out that the product farmer from the village and the village does not lose competitiveness with other products in other countries," said Jokowi when inaugurated Lulu Hypermarket in Cakung, Bekasi, on Tuesday (05/31/2016).


Farm products sold there include onions, bananas, cashews, papaya, soursop, guava, mango and jackfruit.


The products that come from almost all regions in Indonesia, both from Lampung, West Java, Central Java, East Java and several areas in Sulawesi.


There are also other products such as breads, pastries, biscuits, processed foods, textiles, handicrafts and furniture, footwear, paper, and other products come from factories in Indonesia.

"And I saw on the side of Indonesia highly competitive product price and in terms of quality of products that have been entered here are products that have been selected," he added.


Lulu Hypermarket has 165 outlets of the largest in Asia and the Middle East. In 2014 the Indonesian products are successfully exported and generate revenues reached 50.2 million US Dollar.


"It's a sizable increase in exports and the most we are pleased these products from farmers comes from fishermen from the village and from the village," said former Governor of DKI Jakarta.
