University of North Sumatra create diabetes through the breath detector

Team Solar Micro Matic (MSM) Department of Physics, State University of North Sumatra (USU) creates diabetes through the breath detector with mobile systems. Innovation Technology (Inotek) outstanding has been clinically tested.

On 18 April 2016 and then, the tool is crowned champion's first race favorite North Sumatra Innovation Award Foundation Fair held North Sumatra (PRSU). Trophy awarded directly Acting Governor of North Sumatra H T Erry Nuradi.

Chairman of the MSM Sincere Ikhsan Nasution young lecturer in the Department of Physics, State USU said the research has been done since 2010. The results of his research at the laboratory scale has been published in the International Journal of repute Sensors and Actuators B.

He cooperated with Yetty Machrina, a lecturer in the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, USU, assisted by his students Rica Asrosa, S1 Physics Semester 4 as well as his research assistant Ridho Rumansyah.

"This tool has been tested clinically in several hospitals in Medan. In addition to the raw material sensor is made from environmentally friendly materials and methods of detection are not painful because it does not require a blood sample. Another advantage, the test results can be read on mobile phones so that its use is more practical," said Tulus Monday (02/05/2016).

Sincere and his team hope there are opportunities for cooperation with mobile phone companies so that they produce the sensor chip can be implanted into the phone.

"Thus HP functions other than as a means of communication as well as medical test equipment. If this is realized, there is great benefit to be felt by the people of Indonesia. Not only bring pride to us, but also the pride of the people of North Sumatra," he said.

The results of clinical trials of such a device would he presented at the International Conference on Advances in Functional Materials at the International Convention Centre, Jeju Island, South Korea, on 8 until August 11, 2016.

"Day by day, the technology that we produce the better quality and in accordance with the motto 'Better Physics for Better Technology'. Even during this study we did in integrated laboratory Physics largely independent funds, but we are always eager and relentless to continue working for the advancement of science and technology, "he said again.

Sincerely grateful students turned out to have the motivation and morale is remarkable for always helping innovate in any condition.

In addition to diabetes detection through breath, he added, there are still other Inotek products such as smart garden sprinklers by precipitation with solar power, converter tool lstrik without water vapor into the turbine and generator.

"There is another system of automatic control electronic devices without wires and gas leak detection and content of LPG cylinder by SMS. They assisted the students," he said.

He and the rest of the team to give appreciation to the Rector USU Runtung Sitepu giving great attention to their hard work. Not only provide financial assistance, Runtung also promised to help the process of patenting or acquire intellectual property rights.

The same support is given Sutarman as Dean of the Faculty of USU and Kerista Sebayang, Vice Dean of the Science Faculty USU who is an adviser of the team this MSM.

"We are ready to compete in events International sake of the name of USU and Sumatra higher again if the opportunity arises. We and the team hopes USU, Pemprovsu or parties who care about the development of Inotek in Sumatra can help us to follow the exhibitions or competitions abroad, "said Tulus.

Meanwhile, Mayor of Medan Kota Medan optimistic Dzulmi Eldin has higher competitiveness so that it can seize the golden opportunity with the implementation of the current system of free trade. That requires planning and development of more creative and innovative.

"It also required the implementation of a management information system complete and reliable," said Eldin.
