BUMN Buy Drone for Mining and Oil and Gas Survey

Sucofindo PT (Persero) as a state which has the surveying and mapping services, developing in the technology by buying one unit drone (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle / UAV) worth USD 3 billion.

I Sucofindo Commercial Director, Heru said Riza Chakim investment objective is to support the development of surveying and mapping services that have existed since 1999 with high technology in order to improve service Sucofindo.

Heru said the use of drones is very supportive of oil and gas and mining. Oil and gas sector desperately need a map as a basis for the analysis of each phase of activity, starting phase of the acquisition until the working area of exploration work.

UAV belonging to this Sucofindo will provide considerable benefits high as it will improve efficiency and reduce risk and reduce costs. For example, the use of sensors Infrared (IR) can help to survey the oil spill, is able to detect how and in which direction the movement of the spill.

In addition, UAVs can also be used in the monitoring of pipelines, working areas, as well as for asset inventory is done routinely with high precision and reliable speed.

"UAVs can also be used to support the mining sector, where the use of this tool, may soon be known the current conditions at the mine site with authentic evidence and current. Map as a material in the planning process has a vital role for the mining business are required to conduct an inventory of spatial data via UAV , "Heru wrote in a press release on Thursday (28/04/2016).

SBU Head of Public Services and Natural Resources (SBU LSI) Sucofindo, Andre Esfandiari, said the plane with the type RQ84Z Hawkeye has extensive cruising and long flying time of 90 minutes fly. The aircraft is made of kevlar material that has the durability and lifetime considerably longer than foam.

Power Lithium Battery System used to minimize risk and operational ease. The aircraft is capable of reaching speeds of up to 25-60 km per hour so that it can acquire the data more quickly. Drone is capable of low-flying 500 meters above ground level, so that it can see objects with more detail than 5 cm.

"This tool is also equipped multispectral sensor + Infra Red sensor, which can be used as an analysis of vegetation density, the green leaves and the identification of the point of forest fires. The sophistication of the technology is also equipped with Mini LiDAR that can serve for the extraction of DEM (Digital Elevation Model), DSM (Digital Surface Model), DTM (Digital Terrain Model) and Point Cloud Generation for three-dimensional objects, "said Andre.

Meanwhile, Head of Corporate Communications Hotma Sibuea said today Sucofindo is a service company that has a first survey of drone technology that is devoted to mapping survey.

"Supported with branch offices in almost all provinces in Indonesia, we are optimistic that we can be the leading company for mapping services," he said.
