Recommendations Implementation Symposium 1965 Assessed So Settlement First Step
Director Asia Justice and Rights (AJAR) Galuh Wandita urged the government to implement the proposals and recommendations that have emerged in the 1965 National Symposium Dissecting tragedy.
Implementation of the results of the Symposium is considered as the first step of recognition and disclosure of the truth.
According Galuh, the government should implement a comprehensive reparations program, including the official recognition of violations and the disclosure of truth.
He also asked the government to make reparations as complementary mechanisms of justice in order to give space to victims to restore their confidence.
"The right to reparation is different from the programs of social and economic development more generally," said Galuh through a statement on Wednesday (20/04/2016).
"His first priority was given to women, children and people living in remote areas," he said.
In addition, Galuh stressed the importance of a safe space for dialogue and freedom of expression for the survivors in voicing cases of gross human rights violations in the past, in particular, the case in 1965, both at local and national level.
Guarantee the availability of these spaces, according to Galuh, to the creation of constructive learning process for all parties.
Galuh rate, National Symposium, which was held yesterday, is one step that can contribute in establishing a dialogue between the parties in Indonesia, which had never happened.
On the other hand, Galuh viewed Symposium will be in vain if it is not followed by concrete measures to resolve the tragedy of 1965 and gross human rights violations.
Earlier, in reflection at the end of the symposium, members of the Presidential Advisory Council, sidarto danusubroto, hoping Symposium be a first step for the completion of a thorough and fair.
He agreed on some principles of settlement, such as the right to truth, the right to justice, the right to reparation and the guarantee will not be repeated in the future.

Sidarto also hope the results of the Symposium will appear on the fulfillment of the right to a general rehabilitation for victims of human rights violations.
"Formulation complete a recommendation for the government of this symposium will be defined further by the drafting team," said Sidarto.
